The team of Corsica won both running and canoeing competitions that took place on Tuesday, October 2.
The Italian island of Ponza hosts until October 4 the Sprinters Olympics games. The activities are included in this European project which is coordinated by the municipality of Cullera. The Sprinters program aims to promote both the practice of sports in natural protected areas and the creation of sustainable companies in the sector.
Last October 2, a running and canoeing events were celebrated. In the race, that had a 6.5 kilometers long with a vertical elevation of 300 meters, a total of 68 athletes from the different participating countries joined the race. Meanwhile, in the canoeing race, which had a total of 1,5 kilometers long, around 30 athletes participated on San Anthony beach.
In the races, people of both genres from the different participant countries such us Spain, France, Italy, Latvia and Bulgaria participated. Moreover, some of the institutional representatives of the Sprinters project joined the races. The mayor of Cullera (Spain), Jordi Mayor, participated in the running race in the running race while the mayor of Mersrags (Latvia) did the same in the canoeing competition.
Sprinters is a European transnational project coordinated by the city council of Cullera. It is financed by the European Union and the Erasmus+ program. The transnational association is composed of institutions, managers of natural protected areas and sports organizations of 5 European countries: Spain, Italy, France, Bulgaria and Latvia
The project aims to promote both the practice of sports in protected natural areas and the creation of sustainable startups in the sports field.
